AquaMarine offers only Bali's better dive locations: these are on the east, northeast and northwest coasts. These careful selections, combined with the experience of our Balinese dive staff and British safety standards, make an unbeatable combination.
You can be sure of not only safe, enjoyable diving but also that we will show you the best Bali has to offer. In 2005 AquaMarine became Indonesia's first Project AWARE Go ECO Operator.
Situated in the Indo-Pacific, the world's richest marine biogeographic zone, Bali receives very plankton-rich waters and so contains a stunningly diverse underwater ecosystem with diving to suit all abilities and interests. Bali has vertical walls and sand slopes; steel and wooden shipwrecks; limestone shorelines and black, volcanic outcrops; peaceful bays and ripping currents; deep, coral-covered ridges, shallow seagrass beds and big bommies; with both shore- and boat-diving available around the island.
These two islands just off Bali's east coast offer drift-diving in mild to strong currents. The water is cold but often startlingly clear, with gorgeous corals, prolific fish, some turtles, reef sharks and, from July to mid-November, Mola-Mola (Ocean sunfish). The two Manta Points, on southwest Nusa Penida, are must-sees! Day Trips from USD130
Part of West Bali National Park, Menjangan Island was Bali's first internationally-known diving location and is still famous for wall-diving with easy conditions, warm waters and great visibility that can reach 50m+. Day Trips from USD115
World-famous for the 120m USAT Liberty shipwreck, Drop-off and Coral Garden, Tulamben Bay offers incredible shore-diving with very easy conditions - perfect for underwater photography. The resident marinelife includes a huge school of Big-eyed trevally, Leaf scorpionfish, Bumphead parrotfish and pygmy seahorse. Magical night-diving! Outside Tulamben Bay are other wonderful sites such as Kubu, Magic Rocks, Emerald, Alamanda, and Batu Kelebit. Day Trips from USD100
Some of Bali's most stunning diving: vast numbers and great diversity of fish, abundant sharks and frequent pelagic visitors, set against chiselled black walls with beautiful, healthy corals and often superb visibility. Try Mimpang's Shark Point, Tepekong's Canyon and night-diving at Blue Lagoon. Due to variable conditions, a Divemaster experienced at these sites is essential. Day Trips from USD100
The reef- and muck-diving at the quiet village of Amed yield many unexpected treasures. Lipah Bay, 3km southeast, has a 20m coral-encrusted steel freighter. Gili Selang, on Bali's eastern tip (also accessed from Padangbai), offers both protected reef-diving and drift-diving with big fish action. Day Trips from USD105.
Those interested in muck-diving, please see below.
In addition to providing first-class dive services around the island, AquaMarine offers airport transfers, accommodation reservations for all budgets, Land Tours, domestic flights and can organise the full range of topside activities.
Daily Dive Trips
For those doing Day Trips from south Bali, our air-conditioned minibuses will take you from your hotel, through beautiful Balinese countryside, past rice terraces, along coastlines, via rural villages, with great views of Mount Agung (Bali's most revered volcano), to Bali's top dive sites. We also offer Special Day Trips: some are seasonal based on pelagic migrations; others are to rarely visited dive sites with plenty of marinelife but few other divers.
A Safari (diving & accommodation package) allows you to see more of Bali, visit several sites and cut down on road travel. Prices include accommodation near the sites so you can do more dives per day if desired as well as schedule your dives for different marinelife and lighting. AquaMarine customises Safaris for beginners, groups and underwater photographers, according to your interests and personal requirements.

For underwater photographers/videographers and those divers in search of something different: Bali's muck sites are usually black sand, with little or no coral, often with rubbish in the water, however they are treasure troves of the tiniest and more unusual critters.
Secret Bay (northwest Bali)
Bali's best known muck-dive, max depth 12m. The only bay off the Bali Strait making it a large, safe catch-tank for many juveniles and rare macro species including Bobbit worms, Hairy frogfish, and Banggai cardinalfish.
Puri Jati (north Bali)
Muck-diving at its best. A gentle sand slope with patches of seagrass hiding many juveniles, rare fish, crustaceans, cephalopods (including Wonderpus, Blue-ring and Mimic octopus), and fascinating sand dwellers including unusual Mantis shrimps.
Seraya area (northeast Bali)
The 'in' location for macro, Seraya's black sand slope has Harlequin, Coleman and Tiger shrimps, Boxer crabs, Ambon scorpionfish, rare nudibranches and barrel sponges with crinoids.
Amed Ghost Bay (northeast Bali)
This sparse artificial reef and bare slope are easily accessed yet rarely dived. Mimics and Wonderpus, baby frogfishes, rare juvenile batfish, Ornate and Robust ghostpipefish and stonefish can be found.
Jepun (east Bali)
AquaMarine's favourite treasure trove. White sand, Rhinopias (eschmeyeri and frondosa), ghostpipefish, seamoths, Flamboyant cuttlefish, Solar-powered nudibranchs, Cockatoo waspfish and more!
AquaMarine has some unpublicised muck and macro sites that we'd be delighted to show you, please just ask for further details (and send us your wish list!)
